Abstract

These are two case reports of Medication-Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw (MRONJ) associated with Actinomycosis in the mandible. Actinomycosis is a chronic, extensive granulomatous, bacterial infection and the most commonly found microorganism is Actinomyces israelii. Medication-related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw (MRONJ) is a complication of antiresorptive and antiangiogenic drugs. There are 2 cases in these reports representing Medication-related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw (MRONJ) clinically and Actinomycosis pathologically. After the surgical and antibiotic treatments, these cases show favorable responses. In this study, we could take into consideration that Actinomycosis is related to the pathogenesis of Medication-related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw (MRONJ).
